The first time I saw this necklace, I knew it had to be mine…let’s call it love at first sight. It is actually much more than a necklace, it is a statement piece. I first saw it in Macy’s. The only reason I didn’t take the plunge and buy it was the price on the tag…$48! I decided to wait and I am glad I did because on my most recent trip to NYC, I came across it again! This time the price was a little better at $36, so of course I bought it! I made sure to keep the rest of my outfit very simple so that it would not take away from the beauty and colors of this piece. I did spice up my footwork a bit…But the separation of busy patterns with the neutral color of the jean material made it all come together quite nicely.

I have had this Polka skirt for a few seasons now, but its a great transition piece. I have worn it in the Summer, Spring and Fall and I know it will be staple piece in my closet until the threads come loose and the fabric looks dingy. The silk knit shirt is from my favorite thrift store in Atlanta, Nearly New. I’m in love with the shoulder pads even if I look a little like an NFL linebacker. It always good to have items in your closet that can stand the test of time…

This past weekend a made trip to the mall and found this super cute utility vest. Now, this is not your ordinary looking utility vest…it’s a bit more dressy. I love it! The fabric is polyester, but the streamline pockets and detail make this vest super chic. I found it on the sale rack for about $50 and I just could not live without it! I can definitely transition this piece throughout my wardrobe and the changing seasons! BEST BUY OF THE WEEKEND!

Yesterday marked the first day of Spring, but with these temperatures and wind you would think it was still Winter…Today I did a mix of the two since the weather can’t decide what it wants to do! The sweater represents Winter and my peep toe sling back shoes are calling for warmer weather. For now all I can do is hope and pray higher temperatures are in the very near future…

Call me lucky, but every time I visit the thrift store I always seem to find awesomely classic pieces. On my recent trip last weekend, I picked up this vintage Neiman Marcus pleated jean skirt (I found a few more pieces, but I will share them a little later). I absolutely love this skirt! Today, I wore my lucky skirt with this green knit turtleneck for St Patty’s day!

It is finally beginning to feel like Winter in Georgia. Yesterday was entirely way too cold…Buuuurrr! So in order to maintain a little warmth, I decided to do a layered look. Looking back I probably should have added some fur lol…oh well. Needless to say, layering is a great option in cold weather because when moving from outdoors to indoors you can add or subtract pieces based on the temperature. I love this look and it carried me through my after work activities (dinner lol) as well. All I did was change my pants to some sequin leggings and added my knitted cowl (feature here. sorry didn’t take any pictures). Oh, and if you don’t follow me on instagram (@itsme_kee and @rhoyalcandy), then you are probably noticing my new hairstyle for the first time! I cut bangs and added a little red tint!

Are you ready for some football! Ummm…not really, but we are ready for a full out tailgating fashion show! So, we decided to come up with 4 sports proof outfits that should carry you through the season. Honestly, if you aren’t a huge sports fan like us, then your main goal is probably going to the game to show off your threads!
Colored denim jeans are fun, relaxing and easy to style All you need is a super cute top like this peplum shirt and a cardigan or jacket.
The everyday dress can go a loooonnng way! Style your dress with a cute scarf and a nice pair of boots and your ready for kickoff!
Plaid is an essential Fall pattern. You can dress it up or down depending on the occasion, but for tailgating we paired this look with jean shorts and Sperrys for a more casual look.
Denim on denim can be a little tricky to style. We love to pair dark denim and light denim for a contrasting look. Pair your denim with a bright colored shirt and you will stand out among the crowd.
You can’t miss with these 4 outfits. They are great for the changing seasons!

Make your signs! Get creative and use lots of colors, glitter and decorative stick-ons! We purchased pre-cut poster board and letters from Michael’s.
STEP 3:Photos
Just add props and you are ready to snap away and take all the photos you want!
Warning: make sure you purchase a clothing rack with adjustable heights (at least 6″). We had a minor issue with ours…it was a little to short (shrugs)!
All in all our DIY photo booth was a huge hit and we had lots of fun with it!!

Hey guys! Here are my favorites for September! I didn’t do too much shopping this month for beauty items…I was a bit distracted with fall fashion, but nonetheless I had a ton of go to products for the month!
What were your favorite products from September? Leave a comment below!
XoXo,
Amanda
Since I have a slight obsession with my hair (what?…..insert face of shame here), I decided I was going to start a bit of a hair diary. I already talk about a lot of the products I use, so why not?!? I have always taken my hair care pretty seriously and after taking the chance and bleaching my hair I am really taking it up a notch! On my quest for mending my split ends, I will be posting updates about products and any improvements in the health of my hair!
I’m going to need some help though- so if you have any product suggestions or natural remedies for damage control PLEASE feel free to share! I would love that actually! Leave a comment below!
I also want to know if any of you have had any hair scares, ever had a style/color idea that went totally wrong? Leave a comment below!

It is that time of year again…homecoming! How I miss being in school.. sort of…I miss not having any REAL life responsibility..but anyway. Well since I am way too old to be partaking in homecoming activities, I am featuring my little sister Jalynn who is 15 and in the 9th grade! This was her very first homecoming and she asked me to do her hair and makeup, and as her big sister that’s what I am here for-duh!
So, her school’s homecoming them was Night on the Nile and she really wanted to embody that Egyptian look. I think we nailed it!
When I thought of Night on the Nile, my first thought was Cleopatra and my second thought was sleek hair. So, we went for a smokey eye and a high fishtail braid pony- al la Blake Lively.
Blake Lively
Liz Taylor as Cleopatra
I started with the hair. Jalynn’s hair is a little longer than shoulder length so we knew we were going to need to add some clip in extensions to try and get that length.
This is where the game of trial and error came in. Her hair is also on the thin side, so we wanted to make sure to cover our tracks...literally. After trying a few pieces of the clip-ins (the 3 clip weft and the 4 clip weft) I decided to use the individual 1 clip wefts. This gave me more freedom of where to place them without them being seen. I put the pieces in upside down- because if you connect them the correct way, when you brush up the back of your hair into a ponytail you will get the extra bulge (NOT HOT!).
TIP: To make this look more dramatic all you need to do is add longer extensions and more wefts.
Once I was able to secure the pieces, the look was easy from there. We just slicked back her hair into a high ponytail and I fishtailed the braid down to the end and secured with a rubber band.
If you want to learn how to fishtail you can watch my tutorial HERE.

TIP: Don’t skip on the smoothing cream for sleek looks, I recommend Bed Head’s After Party or John Frieda’s Smoothing Cream. Find those products HERE and HERE.
On to the makeup. So, Cleopatra’s eye makeup is a bit dramatic (just a tiny bit..lol) and I didn’t think that would be very appropriate for a 15 year old to be rocking this look, especially since it was a dance and not a costume party. So, we went with a more toned down gold and black smokey eye.

FACE:
I started by applying Youth Code moisturizer all over her face
Then I applied my Smashbox BB Cream in Medium all over her face using my real techniques stippling brush
To contour, I used my Milani Cream to Powder in Caramel Brown and blended that line in with the stippling brush
TIP: start your line right under the cheekbone, but do not go too far down, you shouldn’t be able to see the lines when you look straight on into a mirror.
I added MAC Sheertone blush in Sweet as Cocoa to her cheekbones and blended backwards following the contour using my real techniques blush brush
and to complete the face I used MAC Mineralized SkinFinish in Soft and Gentle to highlight her FAB cheekbones with ELF’s highlighting brush
EYES:
I first primed her lids with Urban Decay Primer Potion
I applied BUCK from the Urban Decay Naked Palette all over her lids
In the crease, outer V and lower lashline (used an angled brush from ELF for this step), I applied DARKHORSE (UD Naked Palette)- I blended that into her lid using Sonia Kashuk E/S blending brush
Then I patted on the gold color Half Baked (UD Naked Palette) into the middle using the Urban Decay shadow brush
I then used SIN (UD Naked Palette) to highlight her brow bone using a shader brush I got from a myglam bag
I went and blended everything together again using a clean Sonia Kashuk blending brush
Mascara used was Sexy Curves by Rimmel
Eyebrow filled using MAC E/S in brun with the MAC 266 angled brush
LIPS:
Used a nude gloss that she had

Whew! and we are done! In the end she looked like the QUEEN of the Nile! Love you Jay!!

So I have gained some sort of owl obsession over the past few years. I am not sure where it came from, but I love owls! I have them all over my home and I love to incorporate owls in my wardrobe. I know it may sound a little strange, but I think they are so cute! Anyhow, I found this graphic sweater at Target for only $17, so it was definitely a must have. I have so many other ways I would like to style this sweater. I can’t wait to show you all. Stay tuned!

What’s your personal style?
Right now,I cant really define my personal. I feel like I’m in a transitioning period. I’m trying to figure out where I fit in… I’m not a spring chicken, but I definitely not an old maid. So I’m trying to decide what that looks like for me when it comes to my personal style.
Who/what most inspires your style?
I get inspiration from magazines, books, tv, blogs and people on the streets. I can get inspired from just about anywhere.
What do you think makes someone stylish?
Style is such a personal thing, so what makes someone stylish changes from person to person. Style is made up of not just how you dress, but how you walk, talk and breath basically how you live. But there are some people who just a exude a certain kind of style and I think that comes from having a good sense of who they are and what they stand for.
Who is your favorite designer?
When it comes to clothing I don’t really have one. I just wear what I like no matter who made it, but when it comes to shoes I am Jessica Simpson/Vince Camuto kind of girl. I like the style of her shoes and most of them are comfortable.
What’s your favorite store?
I don’t really have a favorite store, but there are some stores I must hit when I go to the mall; Macy’s, Ann Taylor, Forever 21, Zara, J Crew and Urban Outfitters.
If you would like to be featured on Street Chic please send photo submissions to filthychic@gmail.com
It’s apple season and the perfect time to make some tasty apple dishes! So since I absolutely love apples, I decided to whip up a quick batch of homemade applesauce. This recipe is quite simple and not to mention pretty darn healthy too! The prep and cook time from start to finish is under an hour!
The first step is the process of choosing your apples. the recipe I use calls for McIntosh and Golden Delicious apples. I stuck with the tart McIntosh apples (6), but for my sweet apples I switched the Golden Delicious for Ambrosia apples (2).
Next, I peeled and cut apples into 1 inch pieces. Then I boiled the apples in 1/4 cup of water. I know it may not seem like its enough water when your pour it into the pot, but the apples will create more juice when they begin to boil.
After the apples have soften to the point that they are mushy, then you know they are done (about 30 min)!
Now, mash the apples to desired consistency…Some people like chucks of apples, but I prefer to mash my apples completely.
Add 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon.
Once the applesauce is done, it will need to chill for a few hours in the refrigerator. It will last up to 2 weeks.
Applesauce is one of my favorites to make! This recipe takes no time at all. It’s a great snack or side item for lunch!
Good luck and happy apple picking!

Luckie Ecke is a Georgia based Youtube beauty guru (MissLuckieGirl) and King’s Corner handbag designer and we are totally in love with her handbags! We are so excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with her and giveaway one of her beautiful handbags. Yes, we are giving away this beautiful King’s Corner blue faux leather handbag below (see rules to enter at bottom of post)!
Here is a little Q&A to get to know her better!
How did you get your start making handbags and what inspires you?
I started making my clutches, probably about 6 months ago. Definitely during the Summer. I got tired of trying to find that perfect clutch that was affordable! I get inspired by everything I see. I love the lines of the city and buildings, which is why I stuck to a structured clutch, instead of a Boho Bag.
How would you describe your handbag collection and who is the ideal customer?
Very clean lines, and structured. I love to keep it fun, so some of the zippers have a little pop of color! I think anyone is the ideal customer. It all depends in what you are looking for. I have bags that are more flirty and soft, while my faux leather clutches are a little rocker and edgy.
What are your favorite fabrics to work with? Any special designs for the Fall/Winter?
I LOVE Faux Leather! It’s so chic and classy. I have had a few requests for animal prints, so I am probably going to start with that for the Fall and Winter months. I was thinking that not only would it be fun to place as the outer fabric, but it would a nice surprise to open a plain black bag, and see cheetah print for the inner lining, instead of beige.
Do you have a favorite handbag in your collection?
Honestly, I love each and every one. When I started making the clutches, I wanted them to be an extension of myself. Each bag means something.
If someone was interested in customizing a handbag is that possible?
Absolutely! If I can find the fabric, we are in business! I would just keep in mind, that not every fabric is possible, but we could always work something out.

I recently purchased some new shoes for the fall season online. I was really excited because I ordered from two websites that I have never tried before: ShoeMint and Sole Society. I love both sites because the shoes are super stylish and affordable! I definitely recommend giving them a try. More details in the video below!
I have recently gained a new found respect for Fall. It has really never been a favorite season of mine (besides the fact that I celebrate my birthday in the Fall). After becoming more aware of the beauty in this season, I have genuinely come to celebrate the falling leaves and cooler temperatures. So with Fall comes Pumpkin season and there is no better way to enjoy pumpkins than to indulge in a flavorful sweet treat!
This weekend I whipped up a tasty batch of pumpkin cupcakes. In order to prevent myself from eating an entire dozen, I ended up taking them to work for a certified taste test from my co-workers…and I must say they definitely passed! I brought home 2 empty containers and the cupcakes received rave reviews! Compliments to the chief!
The first step involved gather up all the ingredients. Although the recipe calls for fresh pumpkin, I used canned pumpkin (such a great time saver)! I used a Kitchen Aid mixer to mix the ingredients together.
I placed them in the oven to baked until they passed the tooth pick test. After the cupcakes cooled, I iced them with cream cheese icing!
I sprinkled some chopped pecans and decorated with cute little candy corn!
These babies were soooooo moist and delicious! I’m actually thinking about making some more for thanksgiving…I may try switching out the pumpkin and replacing it with sweet potato.
WARNING this recipe cures most SWEET TOOTH’S !
Happy baking!

First off, if this gorgeous ad and clever name didn’t spark your interest in Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara then you just cannot call yourself a beauty girl! ( I kid…) This mascara promises to lengthen and plump even the wimpiest of lashes! Here’s what Benefit had to say about their product - HERE
and they didn’t stop there! They had some research to back it up of course….
Research results:
-94% saw dramatic length and volume*
-90% saw base-to-tip curl*
-94% saw visible lift*
-100% saw long-wearing results*
-*Results observed in a consumer panel survey
First Impression:
This mascara is sexy! lol I was almost convinced it was going to turn me into the vamp from the ad! But, no really I was pretty excited about the unique brush. I’m really not crazy about thick natural bristle brushes, so this plastic brush was right up my alley.

Also, the fact is I have pretty puny lashes and hate fooling with fake ones on the regular -SO, I am always on the hunt for a mascara that actually does what it says!
The Test:
My barely there lashes were going to put this mascara to the test!
[TIP: To get more of a cat-eye look pull your wand through your outer corner lashes at an outward angle]
I used two coats of mascara on NON-curled eyelashes…that’s right I did not even curl these bad boys!
[TIP: Do not pump your mascara wand, it actually dries your mascara out faster and it doesn't put more product on the brush which is why most people do that]
Pictures don’t lie…I noticed a significant difference in my lashes!
Highlights:
brush is FAB
doesn’t flake or smudge
pretty much does everything that it says and left me with LONGER & FULLER lashes…
Low Points:
I feel like my bottle is drying out kind of quickly, BUT it could be because I CAN’T stop using it!!
Overall: I’d give it an 10 out of 10
Final verdict: SURVEY SAYS… we have a winner ladies- I’d DEFINITELY recommend!
Do yourself a fave and grab yourself one! This mascara will truly have you saying “They’re real, I promise!” hahaha!
You can purchase Benefit They’re Real Mascara HERE , HERE or HERE
Retail Price $23.00
I hope this was helpful for those wanting to try this product out!

Just in time for Thanksgiving I attempted to roast my very first whole chicken! I was so nervous because for some reason I associate the word roasting with tons of preparation and long cook times. I wasn’t so off with the cook time though, but the rest took no time at all!
I purchased a 4 1/2 lb chicken from my local grocery store. When I got home I rinsed the chicken and began preparing it for the oven (set oven to 425 degrees). I then stuffed the chicken with half a lemon and a few springs of rosemary and thyme (I also stuffed some onions in the cavity for extra flavor). After that, I rubbed the chicken in olive oil and seasoned with salt and pepper! Coat the bottom of the pan with orange juice and the chicken is ready to bake for about an hour and fifteen minutes. Make sure you periodically baste your chicken while it is baking.
The finished result was so tender and juicy…quite divine!
This afternoon I whipped up this tasty wrap for lunch and filled it with sliced roasted chicken!
Very filling and there are so many ways to serve it! I plan on making creations all week!

Wearing Forever 21 Blazer | Urban Outfitters Blouse | Tablots Jeans | Nine West Shoes
Wearing Urban Outfitters cardigan | Polo Ralph Lauren button up | Ann Taylor Loft leggings | Minnetonka moccasins | Chicos necklace
Look 2 is super casual and provides lots of room for an expanding belly! Here we pair these leggings with an over-sized button up shirt. Elastic is your best friend during the holidays!
2. The Dressy Look
Wearing Bebe Leather Vest | BCBG Generations Dress | Chicos Necklace
This electric blue flowing dress will disguise any distress from over eating. Throw on a leather vest to give the outfit an edge. Now your comfortable and stylish!
Wearing H&M dress | Ann Taylor Loft vest | ShoeMint pumps
Prints, prints, prints! The best way to camouflage a bulging belly is to cover it with a busy print! This look is paired with a faux fur vest to hide any additional belly bulge that the print may not cover!
Yes, Thanksgiving is a day for food, fun and family, but that doesn’t mean that style is forgotten. With any of these four outfits you can be comfortable and stylish.
What do you plan on wearing this Thanksgiving?

Because of the gloomy and rainy weather, I opted for pants today. It was quite warm earlier in the day so layering was a perfect option. I can’t tell you how much I am loving my heart sweater from Target!! It is so versatile and you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion.

We were recently able to interview the owner of Fancy Habit Boutique, Chiquita Kirkland . Her online store is pretty awesome with affordable items that can easily transition from day to night! We enjoyed hearing her story and vision for the boutique future.! So, enjoy the interview and don’t forget to visit the store to receive 30% off your next purchase!!!
In the words of Chiquita Kirkland “There’s nothing wrong with being fancy”
When did you realize you wanted to open an online store and how did you get started?
While I was in high school I decided I wanted to be a business owner and I have always had a love for fashion. While in college I worked at a popular women’s clothing store and learned what looks good on a women and the quality of clothing. While working full time I could not put my dream on hold any longer and in the summer of 2011 I started putting plans together to open my boutique online.
My favorite season for fashion is Spring/Summer because everyone is free to try different styles and many different colors!
Do you have a fashion icon, if so how have they influenced tour style?
I do not have a fashion icon. I just love fashion it doesn’t matter who is wearing it as long as it looks good on them.
tell us about the type of woman that shops at Fancy Habit!
The types of women that shop at fancy habit are trendy women looking for quality clothing at great prices. The pieces I choose can be worn in different ways. You can create different styles out of one item to get the most for their money.
How would you describe your style and how does that influence the merchandise selection for the store?
My style is a more comfortable style. On a casual I like to put on a comfortable top, skinny pants, and wedge topping it off with a scarf and jewelry. You will rarely see me in flats because I’m so short.
If you could pick one item from your store what would it be?
It is kind of hard for me to pick one item. I love a nice blazer. I would pick the studded blazer. It can be dressed up to go over a dress or paired with some pants and boots. It can also be worn with silver or gold jewelry. You have different options when wearing this blazer.
What does the future look like for Fancy Habit?
We are looking to partner with more quality brands to offer more items online. Getting out in the community, doing more fashion shows and events in the area.

I purchased this dress from a thrift store a last year and I FINALLY got around to wearing it! It was truly a jewel in the rough. I wanted to keep it’s vintage vibe so I paired it with some non-platform peep-toe pumps and vintage gold accessories. I am so in love with fur this season. It gives the outfit just the right amount of glam!

Today marks the first day of winter and boy is it FREEZING!!! It’s the kind of cold that makes you want to stay inside snuggled under a blanket while watching movies! We braved the cold for a few minutes to take some pictures, but we didn’t last very long!

This beautiful blue anorak from GAP is the newest addition to my overflowing coat closet. I Love this coat because of the vibrant color and casual style. Most of the other coats I own are a little more on the dressy side, so I was so excited when I took the plunge and purchased this anorak. Of course I waited until it was on super sale! It was originally $168, but I purchased it for $60!! It has really become one of my favorite coats to wear this season.

Affordable Beauty, Style and 2013 Fashion Trends
Even on a tight budget, it’s easier more than ever to dress like a fashionista and wear the latest trends. You don’t have to have big bucks to purchase couture, you simply have to have the right resources to dress your best and look like you’re about to strut your stuff on the runway.
One of the most affordable and chic places to shop this year is Forever 21. With their trends constant and stores growing more than ever, you can easily find a two-story Forever 21 in your local mall. I’ve easily found chic button-ups for my beau in the sale section for a mere $3, and suede booties for just $30.
When dressing for the New Year, you’ll want to find inspiration so you can stay updated on what is being worn on the runway. Use Pinterest to find your favorite looks and get ideas when pairing outfits while out shopping. You can find many of these same accessories and items in H&M and Forever 21. When I find any fashion piece I love, I try to first ask myself if it’s something I’d see in my favorite magazine.
Pinterest is also a great way to get ideas on making your own jewelry. There are easily thousands of chunky necklaces, gold bracelets, and earring tutorials that you can do right in your own home at an incredibly affordable price.
Shopping online is perhaps one of the easiest and best ways I shop and find the best deals. Sites like ShoeDazzle, StyleMint, Stella & Dot, and Birchbox all sell top-notch trendy items that won’t break the bank, but will keep you looking fabulous! You can also compare deals on Wanelo and enter your style so these websites can pick the best choices for your taste.
It’s important to remember that if you’re going to be fabulous fashionista, you’re going to have to take risks. Even though it may be hard to dress out of your usual box, you can still choose attire that fits your personality, but is still trendy and beautiful. As the fashion world evolves, so should you.
For 2013, don’t just feel your best, look your best by dressing in the latest, affordable trends!
